Charities do an amazing amount of work raising money for various causes. There are lots of ways in which people are encouraged to raise money for good causes. Running in a Marathon is one such way you can raise money, each year the London Marathon encourages thousands of people to raise money by running either the full marathon or the half marathon. Race for Life is aimed mainly at women, who are encouraged to run for Breast Cancer awareness, but some people run for family members who have died from cancer. All of the money raised from these events go into research in order to find out more about the disease, and to hopefully one day find a cure.
People have done all sorts in the name of charity. Jane Tomlinson is one such woman who raised £1.85m towards her charity from 2002 to 2005, the amazing work she did was done through pain, as Jane had already been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She took part in the Ironman in 2004 and 2006 did a Bike ride across America. Her family stood by her in full support of what she was doing. Since her death her charity has now raised £2.6m. A fantastic achievement. Some people have walked the great wall of China, others have bungi jumped over cliffs, or jumped from a plane, all in the name of charity.
Throughout Britain there are many shops which are dedicated to raising money for charity, selling items such as baby clothes (Kinderkleidung) and children’s clothing (Kinderkleidung). These charity shops request people drop in any unwanted clothing, shoes, books, furniture and such like. They then pick out the good quality merchandise and sell it in the charity shop. Many of the charity shops also sent out collection bags, so people can put their unwanted clothing in a collection bag, and leave it on the door step to be picked up. Most of the people whom work within these shops are volunteers. Charity shops and volunteers do a wonderful job of raising funds for causes, all of these causes usually go a long way to enhance a persons life.
